Backyard Bears of Transylvania
Transylvania, Romania: There are more bears here than anywhere else in Europe. Over time, the animals have learned to adapt to their human environment. Every year the number of incidents increases and coexistence becomes increasingly dangerous, both for humans and bears. This documentary follows a mother bear and her three cubs.
The score encapsulates the mystical world of Transylvania and uses a variety of Romanian folk instruments, such as the Hammered Dulcimer and the Kaval Flute. Composing the two Romanian brass pieces for the bear dance scene and the chase on the ski slope was especially fun.
